German Canadian Entrepreneurship Initiative

The “DCAN Initiative” offers students of Canada and Germany the opportunity to develop and to realize their own ideas in order to set up a personal project or a start-up. In a modular teaching program, students earn professional and methodological competences. The aim is to educate students in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation regarding intercultural skills and different approaches in solving problems.

Qualifications:

•             Innovative and entrepreneurial thinking and acting / Creativity

•             Personal skills and factual knowledge, sensitivity for leadership

•             development of social innovation

•             development of innovation strategies regarding intercultural differences

•             fostering communication and language skills

•             connecting science and economy of Canada and Germany, Bavaria and Québec

Canadian German Winter School in Regional and Social Entrepreneurship

Themes : Mobility, new work, education

Participants: around 20 Canadians, around 20 Germans, setting up of groups of 2 -3 persons of each country

Dates: December 7, December 14, December 21,  09 – 12 a.m. PST / 12 – 3 p.m. EDT / 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. CET

Schedule:

December 7 – Team & Idea

  • Get to know each other – 30 min
  • Introduction – how to tackle challenges of the cities of tomorrow with methods in entrepreneurship & social Innovation – 30 min
  • Ideation in a virtual world café (miro/mural) – 1 h
  • Problem definition and hypothesis – 30 min
  • Clustering and development of rough ideas – 30 min

December 14 – Ecosystem & Research

  • Warm up & Wrap up – 30 min
  • Validation of hypothesis –  1h
  • Road map canvas – 1 h
  • Questions and exchange – 30 min

December 21 – Prototype & Pitch

  • Warm up & Wrap up – 15 min
  • Prototype – 45 min
  • Strategy development / speed dating with coaches – 1 h
  • Finalizing of projects – 30 min
  • Virtual exhibition & farewell – 30 min
